Virginia Opera's ‘OPERA FOR EVERYONE!’ free June 14th concert
Posted June 8, 2009 In honor of the upcoming 35th Anniversary season and in celebration of opera in Hampton Roads, Virginia Opera is offering a free admission OPERA FOR EVERYONE! matinee concert at Norfolk’s Harrison Opera House Sunday, June 14th at 2 p.m. Enjoy this hour-long concert including performances by four incredible opera talents; soprano Cristina Nassif, newly added soprano Aundi Marie Moore, tenor Eric Margiore and baritone Nathaniel Hackmann with Master of Ceremonies Hope Mihalap, humorist, author and WHRO personality. Whether you are already an opera fan or you would like to find out if you are an opera fan, you are invited! This fun, free event is perfect for your family, friends and neighbors so bring EVERYONE! and R.S.V.P. no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 12th by calling 757-627-9545 ext. 3583.
OPERA FOR EVERYONE! will feature soprano sensation Christina Nassif, soprano Aundi Marie Moore, tenor Eric Margiore and baritone Nathaniel Hackmann. Many will recognize Christina Nassif, as she will be performing in her 5th role for Virginia Opera this coming season in Mozart’s Don Giovanni as Donna Elvira. She has previously performed here as First Lady in The Magic Flute (2003), Violetta in La Traviata (2005), the title role in Carmen (2006), and Nedda in I Pagliacci (2007).
Soprano Aundi Marie Moore will be making her Virginia Opera debut this season singing the role of Serena in Porgy and Bess. Ms. Moore is originally from the Hampton Roads area with her parents still making their home in Chesapeake, Va. Tenor Eric Margiore will sing the leading role of Tonio in Donizetti’s The Daughter of the Regiment. Baritone Nathanial Hackmann made his thrilling, unscheduled, debut in the title role of Virginia Opera's production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville last season.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 2:00 p.m. with general admission seating at Norfolk’s Harrison Opera House. Refreshments and cocktails are available for purchase. All concert attendees may enter a drawing for an autographed Virginia Opera poster from the upcoming 2009-2010 35th Anniversary Season.
